As we transitioned from January to February, we enjoyed the beautiful snow this season and continued our programming, hosting conversation classes across various levels. We look forward to what February brings!

Recent Events

Learning About Rendaku at the Adult Conversation Class

Last month, the adult conversation class covered the interesting topic of rendaku (連濁) as one of their topics. Linguist and board member Sasha Jovanovski taught the group about the history of rendaku and the various linguistic reasons and rules for it, such as how 人々 is pronounced hito bito (ひとびと) instead of hito hito (ひとひと). The lesson was engaging and broke down one of Japan’s linguistic phenomenons!
