Happy February, everyone! SJA enjoyed the 新春祭り(“Shinshun Matsuri”, the Japanese New Year’s Festival) held in Arlington this past weekend and we thank everyone who came out to celebrate with us! SJA’s activities continue to ramp up, with origami classes, youth exchanges, conversation classes, and more. We hope to see you all this month and throughout the year.

Japanese New Year Festival

SJA is delighted to have been involved in this year’s Shinshun Matsuri! We had a wonderful time celebrating the Japanese New Year with you all - right here in Arlington!

Event volunteer Khaliun Enkhbold reflects on the festival in this month’s featured blog post. Here’s an excerpt from the post:

Shinshun Matsuri, or the Japanese New Year’s Festival, marks the beginning of the new year in Japan!  They recently came to Arlington on January 26, 2025.  SJA was honored to co-host this event alongside the Japan Commerce Association of Washington, D.C. (JCAW), Tanpopo Gakuen, and the Washington Japanese Language School.
