Arlington-Setagaya Youth Exchange
世田谷区とのユース交流
Are you interested in Japan? Do you study Japanese or want to communicate with Japanese students in Tokyo? SJA is hosting a youth language and culture exchange program with Setagaya, Tokyo by Zoom! You can practice Japanese and help Japanese students practice English. It’s a monthly event, so you can choose which dates to register for—come once or come every time! It’s really flexible and each session is independently conclusive, so you don’t have to worry about missing a session. And it’s free!

Origami Workshop: Fold with Us for SJA Fundraising
Join our origami instructors and SJA volunteers as we create origami items for SJA fundraising efforts. We will be making bookmarks, greeting cards, etc. The instructors will guide you step-by-step through the folding process. Participants are welcome to learn, create their own pieces, and fold extra items to donate.

SJA Origami at J.LIVE Talk 2025
SJA's origami team will organize a booth at the J.LIVE Talk 2025, a national Japanese language presentation contest for high school and college students, organized by the George Washington University Japanese Language Program.

Halloween Origami at Aurora Hills Library
Join us for a fun and creative Halloween Origami Workshop at Aurora Hills Library on Wednesday, October 15th, from 4pm to 6pm. This event is for all ages—kids, parents, grandparents—everyone is welcome!
We’ll make spooky paper crafts like pumpkins, ghosts, bats, and more. You can decorate your creations and turn them into a fun Halloween collage to take home.
No experience needed, and all materials will be provided.

Join us for Halloween Origami fun at Westover library on October 11th from 2pm.
We will show you how to create fun and unique Halloween origami. You can take the figures home as is or you can make a Halloween collage!

Discover the art of paper folding and learn how to share it with others! Join us for a hands-on Origami Basics & Teaching Skills Workshop at Arlington Central Library. Recommended for high school students (ages 15+) and adults, this interactive session will introduce foundational folding techniques, explore classic models, and offer practical tips for teaching origami to others. Whether you're a beginner, educator, or simply curious, this workshop is a great way to pick up a new hobby or enhance your creative teaching toolkit. All materials provided — just bring your curiosity and creativity!

Youth Japanese Language and Culture Class (Beginner to Advanced)

Do you want to study Japanese and learn about Japanese culture? Please join our beginner through advanced Japanese language class for youth (elementary, middle, and high school students). Classes will be offered online via Zoom. Classes are free, but spots are limited, so registration is required. Register here!
Dates: 3rd Sunday of each month: Jun 15, 2025; Jul 20, 2025; Aug 17, 2025; Sep 21, 2025; Oct 19, 2025; Nov 16, 2025; Dec 21, 2025
Time: 6:00-6:45 p.m. EST

Target: youth (elementary, middle, and high school students)
