The Japanese New Year Celebration in Washington (Washington Shinshun Matsuri) is coming to Arlington for the second year in a row!
SJA is proudly co-hosting this event along with JCAW (Japan Commerce Association of Washington, D.C.), Tanpopo Gakuen, and Washington Japanese Language School again.
You can try calligraphy, origami, Hyakunin Isshu karuta, and other traditional Japanese games such as Wanage (ring toss) and Shateki (shooting gallery). In addition to the popular Shishimai dance from last year, there will also be a Japanese taiko drum performance. Lunch and snacks will also be available for purchase in the food court.

Admission: $16 (including $1 fee) non-refundable for over 13 years old (pre-sale); Tickets can be purchased on site with $5 more.
$6 for children aged between 7 and 12. Children 6 and under are free.
The tickets can be purchased through "Admission Ticket Purchase Site." The ticket sales will close on Friday, January 23rd at 12:00 pm, or when sold out.
The sales will conclude once all tickets are sold, regardless of the deadline. To secure your spot, we recommend completing your purchase at your earliest convenience.

Volunteering
We have limited spots available for volunteers for the game section. Volunteers do not need to purchase the admission ticket. Stay tuned for a volunteer sign up sheet. Adults and students (9th graders and up) can volunteer.
