Below is a report from Michiko.

We had the pleasure of sharing the history of origami, its cultural importance, and the many benefits it offers—such as mindfulness, focus, and a deep sense of connection across generations.

I also did a live demonstration in the video, which was such a fun experience!

My origami journey began as a volunteer with SJA, where I first started teaching as a way to engage with the community. That experience encouraged me to take the next step and eventually become an certified instructor at Taro’s Origami Studio in NY.

Today, I continue to enjoy leading SJA’s online origami workshops and participating in community events. I also visit many places—from pre-schools and colleges to senior homes and public or private gatherings—sharing the joy of origami with people of all ages.

I’m truly grateful that what began as a small volunteer activity with SJA has grown into something much bigger, allowing me to meet enthusiastic people and spread the beauty of origami.

This was such a wonderful opportunity to tell our story and highlight the origami we love - hoping we can expand more into this community.
